Anti Slip Steel Stair Treads

SKU
MP339878

Anti Slip Steel Stair Treads are specially designed steel components used to enhance safety on stairways by providing traction and grip to prevent slips and falls.

Manufactured to comply with 35mm or 20mm ball proof requirements in accordance with BS 4592-0:2006+A1:2012 with a nosing bar welded to the front edge and welded integral end plates drilled to allow for bolting to stair stringers.

The nosing bar on the Steel Stair Treads is attached along the full width of the leading edge and this is selected to suit the requirements of the project considering slip resistance, visibility and loading.

Nosing is an important feature of stair treads for:

  • Loading – loads are usually applied to the front edge/nosing of the tread.
  • Anti-slip surface to the front edge
  • Sight bar to help locate each stair tread

Standard nosing options include Liongrip, Durbar or Hi-Vis – the British Standard advises a minimum going of 250mm plus a 16mm overlap meaning the minimum tread width should be 266mm.

End plates and the drilled hole positions have been standardised across all treads with alternative drillings available upon request.

The End Plate drilling consists of one fixed and one slotted hole to allow for flexibility during installation.

These Steel Stair Treads are anti-slip to ensure a safe stairway for workers. The grated design of these Stair Treads allows for extra grip when walking on spillages.

Stair Treads have been manufactured to comply with 35mm or 20mm ballproof requirements to catch falling objects.

Stair Treads are a primary source of accidents on-site and have been designed to have as much grip as possible.

Features & Benefits:

  1. Material Composition:

    • Steel Construction: Anti-slip steel stair treads are typically fabricated from high-quality steel for durability and strength.
    • Surface Treatment: The tread surface is specially treated to incorporate anti-slip features, such as raised patterns, perforations, or welded-on abrasive materials like serrated bars or diamond plate.
  2. Features:

    • Anti-Slip Surface: The primary feature of anti-slip steel stair treads is the textured surface that provides enhanced traction and grip, reducing the risk of slipping, especially in wet or oily conditions.
    • Strength and Load Bearing: Steel stair treads are robust and capable of supporting heavy loads, making them suitable for industrial and commercial applications.
    • Durability: Steel construction ensures durability and resistance to wear and tear, maintaining safety over the long term.
    • Corrosion Resistance: Stainless steel treads offer excellent corrosion resistance, making them suitable for outdoor or corrosive environments.
    • Easy Installation: Anti-slip steel stair treads are designed for easy installation on existing stair structures, either by bolting, welding, or using adhesive.
  3. Types of Anti-Slip Steel Stair Treads:

    • Perforated Treads: These treads have holes or perforations that allow water, mud, or debris to pass through, keeping the surface clear and reducing the risk of slipping.
    • Serrated Treads: Treads with serrated edges or raised patterns provide excellent grip and traction, especially in areas prone to moisture or oil.
    • Diamond Plate Treads: Textured diamond-shaped patterns on the surface offer enhanced slip resistance and a modern aesthetic.
    • Welded-On Nosing: Some steel treads feature welded-on abrasive nosing made from materials like aluminum oxide or silicon carbide, which further improves traction.
  4. Applications:

    • Industrial Settings: Commonly used in factories, warehouses, and manufacturing plants where heavy-duty and slip-resistant stairs are required.
    • Commercial Buildings: Installed in public buildings, office complexes, and shopping centers to ensure safety on stairways for employees and visitors.
    • Outdoor Use: Ideal for outdoor stairways exposed to rain, snow, or ice, where slip resistance is critical.
    • Marine and Offshore: Stainless steel treads are suitable for marine and offshore environments due to their corrosion resistance.
