The Heavy Duty Plank Barrier System gives contractors and utility teams a configurable way to establish temporary separation around working areas. Its individual plank, post and base components allow the layout to be adapted to different site footprints instead of restricting the user to a fixed barrier-panel format.

  • Virgin HDPE planks – The barrier planks are manufactured from virgin HDPE and are available in 1.25m and 2.0m widths.
  • Modular configuration – Components can be arranged to form straight barrier runs, corners and enclosed working areas.
  • Two base formats – Standard and anti-trip base options allow the system to be selected around different site and pedestrian-access requirements.
  • Lamp-compatible posts – Upright posts include provision for mounting compatible temporary warning lamps where additional visibility is required.
  • Stackable components – Planks and bases can be stacked to support more practical storage and transport between jobs.

With an overall barrier height of 1170mm, the system is suited to temporary works where a clear physical boundary is needed around utility operations, excavations, maintenance areas or other controlled work zones.

The anti-trip base option is particularly useful where the barrier run is positioned close to pedestrian routes or within tighter working areas. For less constrained layouts, the standard base provides an alternative configuration using the same modular plank system.

Because the barrier is assembled from separate components, the layout can be adapted as work progresses. This makes it useful for contractors dealing with changing excavation footprints, utility access points and temporary street-work layouts.

HERMEQ stock a wide-range of Road Barriers, Traffic Management Equipment, Water Filled Barriers & Road Signs conforming to all required safety specifications and regulations.

What is a heavy duty plank barrier system?

A heavy duty plank barrier system uses separate horizontal planks, upright posts and bases to create a configurable temporary barrier. This HERMEQ system can be assembled into straight runs, corners or enclosed working areas.

What sizes are the barrier planks available in?

The planks are available in 1.25m and 2.0m widths. Both options use the same modular barrier principle, allowing the layout to be selected around the available site space and work-zone configuration.

What is the Heavy Duty Plank Barrier System made from?

The horizontal barrier planks are manufactured from virgin HDPE. The system also uses separate upright posts and polymer bases to form the completed barrier layout.

What is the difference between the standard and anti-trip bases?

The system is available with standard or anti-trip base options. The anti-trip format is intended for layouts where reducing the footprint around pedestrian routes or tighter working areas is particularly important.

Can lamps be fitted to the barrier posts?

Yes. The upright posts include mounting provision for compatible temporary warning lamps, allowing additional visibility to be added where required by the site layout.

Can the barrier be configured around an excavation or work area?

Yes. Its modular construction allows planks and posts to be arranged in straight runs, corners and enclosed configurations, making the system suitable for defining different work-zone shapes.

Where can the Heavy Duty Plank Barrier System be used?

The system is suitable for applications including utility and telecoms works, street maintenance, excavation areas and temporary roadworks. The final configuration should always be selected for the specific site conditions and access requirements.
