The Safe Plate is HERMEQ’s specialist safety plate designed to improve hazard awareness on temporary surfaces. Suitable for use as both road plates and ground plates, it features bright high-visibility paint on all edges and an anti-slip coating to reduce the risk of slips and trips. Designed for areas with pedestrians and slow-moving vehicles, this product is trusted across worksites, footways, and utility access areas.
Each safety plate is made from mild steel and built to withstand pedestrian and vehicle weight depending on thickness. The bright-painted lip ensures edge visibility even in low light, while the aggregate-textured surface enhances grip in wet or oily environments. A key feature is the pre-cut corner holes, allowing easy lifting and positioning via chains. This design ensures safe manual handling and fast on-site installation using HIAB delivery if required.

Common applications:
- Pedestrian crossings over trenches or excavation
- Utility works and street access over open pits
- Driveway or pavement restoration where safe cover is required
- Slow-moving vehicle access over dug surfaces
- Railway and tramway maintenance zones
Every safety plate is fabricated from mild steel and finished with an industrial adhesive coating. This adhesive bonds a fine-grade aggregate to the steel, creating a reliable anti-slip texture. Unlike anti-skid plates which use bauxite granules, the aggregate here is carefully selected to maintain grip without becoming loose under traffic. The drying and setting process ensures a long-lasting surface ready for quick deployment.
These road plates come standard with lifting holes to aid with placement via chains. Each 60mm hole is cut approximately 50mm from the plate’s edge using precision plasma cutters to ensure safe working and a clean finish. This layout allows trained HIAB drivers to lift and drop plates into position with minimal manual intervention. Fast and safe, this system helps reduce site downtime and operator risk.
Can these safety plates support vehicle traffic?
Yes. Depending on thickness, they’re suitable for both pedestrian and light to medium traffic applications.
What makes them anti-slip?
Each safety plate has a bonded aggregate surface that improves grip in wet and uneven areas.
Are these road plates compliant with visibility standards?
They include high-visibility paint on all edges to enhance safety near public and worksite traffic zones.
