HERMEQ’s Network Rail Spec Pales form the vertical structure of our most robust rail-compliant palisade fencing system. Engineered to meet NR/L2/TRK/5100/1/WP 2015 rev A specifications, these W-section steel pales are essential for creating a secure and long-lasting perimeter on rail or commercial infrastructure projects.
Each bay requires 17 pales, crafted from 2.5mm thick steel with single-pointed heads. The 225mm top and 150mm bottom extension enhances their deterrent profile, while the pale body includes pre-drilled holes to ensure easy and secure installation. Rounded pale tops can be requested as an alternative for less aggressive finishes.
- Profile design – W-section for added strength and deterrence.
- Steel thickness – 2.5mm gauge, hot dip galvanised to BS EN ISO 1461.
- Custom coating – Powder-coated options in green or black, compliant with BS1722-16.
- Quantity per bay – 17 pales to complete one Network Rail Spec bay.
- Install ready – Pre-drilled with precise holes for quick fitting onto rails.
These fencing components work in tandem with HERMEQ’s rail-spec horizontal rails and steel RSJ posts. Together they create a secure, stable, and visually consistent perimeter system that adapts to gradients and uneven terrain with minimal customisation. The pale’s compatibility with M8 and M12 fixings ensures a tight structural fit, while the rigid galvanised surface provides corrosion protection in high-exposure environments.
Whether used on rail platforms, infrastructure compounds or high-security commercial perimeters, these palisade pales deliver the required durability and compliance. Optional powder coatings are available in RAL6005 green or RAL9005 black, with bespoke colour options on request. All components are audited under HERMEQ’s ISO 9001 quality management system and independently certified by BSI, CE and BRE.
HERMEQ stock a wide-range of Palisade Ultra, Palisade Standard, Palisade Network Rail Spec, Safe Mesh and various Domestic Railing options.

- Made from cold-rolled steel to deliver high tensile resistance against climbing and impact.
- Conforms to rail industry requirements for permanent, tamper-resistant perimeter protection.
- Supplied as individual units or in bay sets with 17x pales for standard configurations.
- Integrates with HERMEQ’s network rail fencing system including rails and posts for full structural integrity.
Each pale is subject to rigorous quality control and material certification. The system’s modular nature allows adaptation to slopes and irregular surfaces without compromising stability. Fixings include shear-nut secured bolts designed to resist tampering while maintaining quick installation on site. All units can be finished in durable coatings that enhance lifespan and visual uniformity across long fencing runs.
Ideal for railway, energy sector, and local authority perimeter boundaries, these pales contribute to a visually consistent, regulation-approved fencing line. Installers benefit from pre-drilled fixings that align precisely with HERMEQ rails and posts—reducing downtime and ensuring reliable alignment. For rapid sourcing and compliance documentation, each pale is traceable to batch certification and backed by HERMEQ’s UK supply chain.
