Coir Log Erosion Control
Biodegradable Coir Logs are dense virgin coconut fibre bio-rolls put in place to dissipate wave energy, protect against water scour and retain your riverbank to allow for plants to develop.
Coir Logs are encased in knotted coir or polypropylene nets and can have optional pre-formed plant holes incorporated into them to simplify the placing of marginal plants. Special compounds can furthermore be added to enhance moisture retention on sites with fluctuating water levels.
The use of Coir Logs will improve the overall water quality of your environment with their ability to control erosion and counteract non-point source pollution. Commonly used with Coir Pallets & Sods – coconut fibre mattress substrates used to protect and support river banks and shorelines to promote restoration of your environment.
Coir Logs also provide a stable growth substrate for marginal plants encouraging the establishment of plant colonies and healthy root systems. These Logs are ideal where no suitable soil medium exists such as steel piles or gabions. Plants can then be selected for their suitability to the surrounding physical conditions and the cover they can provide to wildlife and aquatic species. With roots maturing over time to create an effective binding matrix, the coir fibre progressively degrades to leave a vegetation framework for a full wetland community.
