The Plastic Utility Barrier is designed for temporary works where contractors need a compact, visible barrier around utilities, excavations or restricted access points. Its modular panel format allows the barrier to be configured around smaller work areas without requiring a long continuous barrier run.
- UV-stabilised HDPE construction – Manufactured from high-density polyethylene with UV stabilisation for internal and external site use.
- Compact panel dimensions – Each panel measures 1000mm high × 750mm wide × 20mm deep, making the system suitable for confined utility and street-work locations.
- D-Hinge™ and D-Clip™ connections – The connection system allows individual panels to be joined into the required enclosure configuration.
- Reflective visibility strips – Reflective areas are incorporated into the barrier design to improve visibility around temporary works.
- Portable modular format – Individual panels weigh 2.70kg and can be arranged as either three-sided or four-sided barrier sets.
The barrier is suited to telecom and fibre installations, street maintenance, roadside repair work and locations where manholes or excavation points need to be temporarily separated from pedestrians. Its modular format is particularly useful where the work area is compact or the barrier needs to form an enclosure rather than a long straight run.
The current product specification references the reflectivity requirements of BS EN 12899-1, Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual, Safety at Street Works & Road Works – A Code of Practice, and the Traffic Signs Regulations & General Directions. Compliance and site suitability should always be assessed against the requirements of the individual works location.
HERMEQ stock a wide-range of Road Barriers, Traffic Management Equipment, Water Filled Barriers & Road Signs conforming to all required safety specifications and regulations.

What is a plastic utility barrier used for?
A plastic utility barrier is used to create a temporary enclosure around utility and street works. This HERMEQ model is suited to telecom installations, fibre works, roadside repairs, manholes, excavation points and other areas where temporary pedestrian restriction is required.
What size is the HERMEQ Plastic Utility Barrier?
Each individual panel measures 1000mm high x 750mm wide x 20mm deep and weighs 2.70kg.
How do the D-Hinge™ and D-Clip™ connections work?
